Vikash’s Success in India’s Solar Sector

From a small village to a big mission—Vikash now powers India’s solar future with skills gained through Generation India.

“I often felt underqualified due to a lack of technical skills. Financial constraints made it even harder to pursue any training or job opportunities outside my hometown,” says Vikash Kumar.

Today, Vikash works at Adani Solar as a Solar Site Technician. He is responsible for the installation and maintenance of solar panels, playing an active role in building a greener future while also finding financial stability and career growth.

Vikash grew up in a small village near Chapra, Bihar, in a modest family of five. The area had limited access to higher education, and like many others in his community, he couldn’t pursue graduation. Pressed by circumstances, he began looking for a job early on, but most roles required either experience or technical skills he did not possess. Months of searching led to little success.

That’s when Vikash learned about the Solar PV Installer program offered by Generation India. Drawn by the opportunity to gain technical skills along with assured placement support, he enrolled without hesitation. “I learned how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot solar panels. I also improved my communication and technical skills,” he shares.

Working in the solar sector has also given Vikash a deeper sense of purpose. “Knowing that my work directly contributes to clean energy makes me proud. It’s not just a job; it’s part of building a better future for the planet,” he says.

Reflecting on the training, Vikash adds, “It helped me realise that with the right skills, I can build a stable and meaningful career.” With the support of the Generation team, he secured his role at Adani Solar Ltd. just five days after completing the program.

Looking ahead, he shares, “I plan to grow within the company and aim to become a Project Manager or a Solar Contractor in the near future.” On his overall experience, Vikash adds, “I would highly recommend Generation India. It provides job-oriented training and real opportunities. Today is the era of solar energy, and Generation gives you the platform to enter this bright industry.”
