Sunita’s Story: A New Beginning

FROM THEN TO NOW

Sunita | New Delhi
General Duty Assistant (GDA) program graduate (2016 Cohort)

Sunita had completed her Grade XII but couldn’t pursue further education. With limited prospects and rising responsibilities at home, Sunita faced an uncertain future. To add to the pressure, her husband had just lost his job.

“I had to do something, for my children, for our survival,” she recalls. “I started looking for work, and that’s when I heard about Generation India.”

With no prior experience in healthcare but immense courage, Sunita enrolled in Generation India’s General Duty Assistant (GDA) program.

“I learned so many things—like how to measure blood pressure, how to perform CPR. It was all new to me. And it gave me purpose.”

For Sunita, the training wasn’t just about skills—it was about clarity, confidence, and the power of choice.

“My mindset changed. My vision got clearer. Just after completing the course, I got placed at a big hospital—and I’m still working there today.”

Today, Sunita works at a very reputable hospital in New Delhi, and her career provides her with more than just a salary; it gives her strength, dignity, and the ability to build a future for herself and her family.

“I’m blessed with two children. And because I’m earning, I know I can give them a better life. That assurance means everything.”
