Sivanthi: Building Stability, One Step at a Time

Sivanthi: Building Stability, One Step at a Time

Sivanthi grew up in a small village in Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu, where most families depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Her father passed away when she was just four and a half years old. From then on, her mother took on the responsibility of raising the family alone, working as a farmer to support Sivanthi and her elder brother.

“My mother worked very hard to educate us,” Sivanthi says. “Life was very difficult for us growing up.”

In her village, opportunities for girls are often limited. Many young women leave education early or struggle to find employment close to home. Sivanthi knew she wanted something different. After finishing college, she spent several months searching for a job but struggled to find the right opportunity.

During that time, she heard about Generation India’s IT Technical Support Associate (IT TSA) programme through one of her teachers and decided to join the training.

Finding Her Voice

Before joining the programme, Sivanthi believed she had the ability to succeed but found it difficult to express her skills confidently.

“I always had confidence in myself,” she says. “But I didn’t know how to express the skills I had.”

Gradually, she became more comfortable speaking, presenting ideas, and responding in professional situations. Continuous feedback from trainers helped her build confidence and approach interviews more calmly.

Entering the Workforce

After completing the programme, Sivanthi joined 5K Car Care Pvt. Ltd. as an IT Technical Support Associate.

“I feel like an independent person now,” she says. “I feel respected, and I feel that I support my family.”

A New Sense of Possibility

“Everyone at home and at my workplace feels happy and proud,” she says

From a small village with limited opportunities to a professional role in the technology sector, Sivanthi’s journey has been steady and determined. Her first job has brought independence and the confidence to keep moving forward.
