Om Uday Tambe, from Junnar in Pune, comes from a humble farming family. Growing up, life was simple but grounded in strong values of hard work and discipline. As he shares, “Growing up in a farming family, my childhood was simple and taught me the importance of hard work, discipline, and values.”

After completing his ITI in Electrician, Om was eager to start working – but like many others, he struggled to find the right job opportunity and faced financial pressure at home. “I was qualified, but job opportunities were limited, and we were also facing some financial pressure,” he recalls.

Everything began to change when he learned about Generation India through a training partner. Seeing an opportunity to build a career, he enrolled in the Solar PV Installer programme, driven by his goal of securing meaningful employment.

During the training, Om particularly enjoyed the hands-on learning and the constant support from trainers. “I enjoyed the training sessions and the guidance from the trainers, especially the hands-on learning,” he says. He gained practical skills in site assessment, solar panel installation, electrical wiring, inverter connections, and safety procedures.

More importantly, the programme helped him build confidence and a clearer vision for his future. “The programme gave me skills and confidence and changed my perspective about my career in a positive way,” he shares.

Soon after completing the course, Om secured a job as an Assistant Technician at Sujit Sales in Manchar, Pune. In his role, he supports the installation and maintenance of solar and electrical systems – applying the skills he learnt during the programme every day.

Today, Om earns a stable income, contributing to his family and easing their financial burden. “After completing the programme, my life has changed in a very positive way. I gained technical skills and confidence, which helped me secure a job… This has made me financially more independent and responsible,” he says.

His success has also had a meaningful impact at home. “This programme has made a significant difference to my family… it improved our financial condition and reduced some of the burden,” he adds.

Looking ahead, Om feels optimistic about what lies ahead. “I feel much more confident and positive about my future. I now have practical skills, a stable job, and a clear career path in the growing renewable energy sector,” he shares.

Om strongly recommends the programme to others, especially those looking to gain practical skills and become job-ready. “These programmes provide valuable technical skills along with practical hands-on training, which helps in getting job-ready,” he says.

For him, this journey has been truly life-changing – transforming not just his career, but his confidence and outlook on life.
