From Guwahati to Growth: Mriganka’s Journey of Skills and Purpose
Mriganka grew up in Guwahati, Assam, in a family that was well acquainted with the weight of struggle. With his father working as a farmer and his mother managing the household, resources were always limited. Yet education remained a priority, and he graduated with an honours degree in Economics.
But the degree didn’t bring clarity. “I wasn’t happy with the kind of opportunities I was getting,” he recalls. Job prospects felt limited, and without the right skills or confidence, he couldn’t get past the interview rounds. The dissatisfaction grew heavier with every passing month—he badly wanted a job, a career in which he could grow.
That turning point came when a friend introduced him to Generation India Foundation. Mriganka enrolled in the Credit Processing Officer program, a decision that shifted his perspective. Through the program, he gained more than technical knowledge. He learned communication, workplace behaviour, and how to represent himself with confidence. “Learning skills I never knew I had was one of the most valuable lessons,” he says.
The impact was immediate. With Generation’s placement support, Mriganka began his career at Bandhan Bank. Today, he has moved into a new role—working as a faculty member at ICA Edu Skills, where he trains others, carrying forward the same cycle of opportunity that once changed his life.
Looking back, he sees a life transformed—not just his own, but that of his family as well. “One of the biggest milestones for me is financial independence. I can now support my family, and we’re living a more stable life.”
